The most important first step to take is to define your work space. If you have the luxury of setting up an office in a separate room make the most of it. Take advantage of the terrific savings offered by Groupon coupons and head to your local Sears to stock up on the furnishings for your home office. A sturdy table or desk and quality desk chair should be at the top of your list. There’s nothing more satisfying than finishing your work for the say, closing the door to your home office and heading out to spend quality time with your family or significant other. Just as you define your work hours when commuting to the office, the same schedule needs to be adhered to when working from home. Otherwise, that line between work and play will begin to blur and your quality of life begins to decrease. You add less value to yourself, your company and your family.

Finally, commit to making a separation between office items for your job and home office items such as bills. It’s very unproductive to switch back and forth between the two during the work day. If they are in two separate spaces, the tendency will be reduced. The same goes for homework, art projects, coupons and the like. Refrain from allowing your job workspace to be overtaken by family business.  Follow these basic guidelines and you’ll be on your way to successfully balancing a home office and home life. Good luck to you!
